Single Vision

Single vision lenses are designed to correct sight at one distance only, with a single prescription covering the entire surface of the lens.

They are usually prescribed for people who are either longsighted or shortsighted, and who need glasses just for things like reading, driving or working at a computer.

Opting for single vision lenses may mean you also need a separate pair of glasses for different activities.

Progressives

Progressives are the best solution when more than one prescription is needed to correct your vision. As they combine two prescriptions in one lens, you do not have to carry two different pairs of glasses.

The more advanced a lens the less soft focus it will have, meaning it better replicates natural vision.

Bifocals

Bifocal lenses are a convenient, alternative to having two pairs of single vision glasses. Combining two prescriptions in one lens, bifocals have two clearly defined areas, with the upper section being for distance or an intermediate focal length, while the lower section is generally for near vision requirements, such as reading.

Bifocal lens options

Bifocal lenses are available in two different styles, half moon and round. Although not usually as expensive as varifocal lenses, which invisibly blend prescriptions, bifocals do have a visible line where the two different sections meet.

Eyezen: blue light blocking lenses

An intense digital life

Here’s a surprise: staring at screens throughout the day is pretty much unavoidable. But all that screen time can be hard on your eyes and may cause digital eye strain — even if you don’t currently wear glasses. Because screens are small, bright and we spend a lot of time staring at them, they make our eyes work hard.

  • Most people spend at least 12 hours a day consuming some form of media.
  • It only takes as little as two hours in front of a screen to cause digital eye strain.
  • Nearly 60% of people use their smartphones before bed and right when they wake up.

Here are some of the most common conditions you can experience by staring at screens for too long:

Eyezen benefits

  • Help you see more clearly and comfortably regardless of the size of the screens (even the smaller ones!) and the distance from which you look at them
  • Protect your eyes against harmful blue light
  • Provide sharp vision all day
